Teaching Drama
Teaching drama or story needs very hard and practical work. It cannot be taught by a single techniques or strategy. If the teacher will not use a variety of techniques, he will be able to achieve the objectives of he lesson any strategy the teacher may use, students’ active participation is must. Without performing different actions students cannot learn the theme of the story and different skill which are used in the story.
Without students participation the lesson looks very dry. Some of the strategies which can be used to teach drama are as follow:
(a). Research task: Each group member researches an aspect of a story like character, settings, plot, theme. The information is shared among the group once completed.
(b). Students can be encouraged in discussion in their small groups and then in large groups by providing equal opportunity to each students.
©. Students can be asked to show different settings of the story in freezing position in the class.
(d). Pizza taxonomy: Open ended questions based on Bloom’s taxonomy are given to the students in their groups. Questions may be including:
Remembering: What are the main events?
Understanding: what are the characters?
Applying: What would you do if you were the character?
Analysis: Have you ever read the book like this?
Evaluating: What was your favourite part? Why?
Creating: What would be the way of ending other than it?
(e). Students can be divided in to different groups and asked to demonstrate the story in different ways like setting based, character based or theme based or any other.
Simply, any method which is used to teach drama will not be successful without students’ active participation, because students learn by doing.

Drama: This section of drama will help the teacher to plan their drama in vaiety of ways, it can not be taught by single teaching techniques or strategy.Through different strategs and techniques teacher can achieve the objectives.
For teaching drama I will start with
.warm up: using music and involving the students.
.Development:reading and then discussion in the small groups were all the students will take part and will share their understanding.
.Setting: the students in the gruops will make the setting of the drama, like drowing, acting or freezing position in the class.
. The Students will show with the whole group.
. The students will share their learing with whole class.
Like what they have learnt from this drama, which chracater they like the most, and why they like? If they will act which chracter they would like do and why they like to do?
Then the students will write their learing individually by writing or drowing.
By using different teaching techniques teacher can create an environment for the students, so they may feel the atmospher of learning and enjoy by reading. In this way they will be fully involve in the drama. they can also can have a role play which will give them more understanding about the drama or about the story.
The warm up, development of the lesson, application, play or action and over all assessment will help and will motivate the students learning.
